- Description
New York: Random House, 1971. First Edition. 206 pages. Hardcover: NEAR FINE. Dust Wrapper: NEAR FINE. A lovely copy; the spine is square, leaves are crisp and absent any marks. Some color loss on top and bottom of boards, along with a couple of bumps and foxing on the text block. Apart from some mild toning, the dust wrapper is near perfect. Comes with an attractive, new custom-made case.
The novel Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas is famously based on two trips to Las Vegas, Nevada that Hunter S. Thompson took with attorney and Chicano activist Oscar Zeta Acosta in March and April 1971. Thompson wrote that he concluded their March trip by spending some 36 hours alone in a hotel room "feverishly writing in my notebook" about his experiences.
