New York: Charles Scribner's Sons, 1929. First Edition. 355 pp. Hardcover: NEAR FINE. Dust Wrapper: NEAR FINE. Book has expected wear; slight discoloration of boards; what looks to be the remnants of a now-removed bookplate on front flyleaf; minor toning to text block. Dust Wrapper is price clipped; slight discoloration and minor bumping near spine. Enclosed in a custom case, which grades NEAR FINE. A lovely copy.

At the age of 18, Ernest Hemingway was eager to serve in the Great War, however, poor vision made him join the ambulance corps instead and he was sent to France. Transferred to Italy, he became the first American wounded in that country during World War I. Hemingway came out of the European battlefields with a medal for valor and a wealth of experience 10 years later that would turn into A Farewell to Arms.
