Radio Free Hollywood magazine was published in the mid-70s by a gang of bands including The Dogs, The Motels and The Quick, as a rock and roll collective based in the L.A. community with goal to secure venues and gigs for local bands, and promote their brands of rock and roll. During this period, local and visiting bands were blocked from playing at local clubs by the starstruck owners of those live venues. Spurring an underground movement by promoting their own shows was a means of survival for these bands.
