Ian Astbury, lead singer of English rock/alternative/goth band The Cult, who was of American Indian heritage, created a dance and music festival in which these various types of rock music could be gathered to raise money and awareness for Native American- related causes. A number of big acts performed, including The Cramps, Iggy Pop, Crash Vegas, Soundgarden adn Public Enemy, among others.
