Dylan, Bob -- Tarantula Pirated [Book]
No date, ca. 1968-71. Softcover. NEAR FINE. A few modest markings, stains; small pen park on front cover. General wear.
In 1964 Dylan signed with Macmillan to write a book called Tarantula. It's about spiders,' he said. Galley proofs were ready in 1966, but publication was suspended after Dylan's motorcycle crash later in the year. Numerous bootlegged editions appeared before Macmillan eventually published the novel in 1971. From the front cover of this pirated version: "The copy we received to work from was xeroxed and, according to the grapevine, was taken from the printer s galleys. We have tried to keep as close to that as possible. This edition has the same number of pages. Each line has the same words in it. The graphics were of our own choosing. Proceeds from the sale of this underground edition are going to legal defense funds around the country".
