- Description
8 ½” x 11”. January 24, 1972. SIGNED by the artist. VERY GOOD. Faint crease in right top corner, wrinkles.
Original handbill designed and signed by Gary Grimshaw announcing a Victory Celebration with Detroit/Mitch Ryder, Up, Harvey Khek, the Motor City Mutants, and speakers John Sinclair and lawyer Mark Stickgold, at the Grande Ballroom, Detroit. Featuring an illustration of a marijuana leaf with the slogans "John Is Free!" and "Free All Marijuana Prisoners!".
Arrested for possession of marijuana in 1969, Sinclair was sentenced to ten years in prison, which was deemed exceedingly harsh by many and led to a significant protest movement by prominent figures including John Lennon and Yoko Ono. Sinclair was freed in December 1971 shortly after a benefit concert.
UNCOMMON.
