An "All Night Rave" at the London Roundhouse launched International Times on October 15th 1966. Due to legal threats from The Times newspaper it was abbreviated to IT. Despite constant Police harassment of the UK underground press, IT magazine continued to grow to a circulation of 40,000 in late 1968-69 until its first demise in October 1973 when it was convicted for running contact ads for gay men. There were just a few sporadic issues between 1974 and 1982.
