New York: Random House, 1985. First Edition. 337pp. Hardcover: FINE. Dust Wrapper: NEAR FINE. Trivial wear to spine, scattered foxing to the upper edge of the text block, else clean throughout. Dust Wrapper is unclipped ($17.95), with some pinpoint wear to the extremities, a small tear to the upper edge of the rear panel, and a few faint stains to the spine ends on verso. Also free of the ubiquitous remainder. A lovely copy. Review Copy, with the publisher's publicity sheets folded and laid in. A gorgeous copy of McCarthy's gruesome story of scalp hunters, loosely based on the 1850 Glanton gang. Considered one of the greatest American novels, The New York Times named Blood Meridian runner up for the best work of fiction in the last 25 years. The story of "the kid," who is never named in the book, as he makes his way through a violent and lawless Northern Mexico and Texas in the mid-19th century. The book sold poorly upon publication, with just 1,883 being sold prior to being remaindered (per Ahearn).
