The Oracle of Southern California, a newspaper based in Los Angeles and a member of the Underground Press Syndicate, was part of a network of countercultural newspapers and magazines from the 1960s. Inspired by the San Francisco Oracle, The Oracle of So. Calif. frequently featured psychedelic art and neo-pagan ideologies, capturing the spirit of the hippie and psychedelic counterculture. Published for only one year (1967–1968), its ninth issue, released in January 1968, covered topics such as Indigenous and Native American ideologies and knowledge, psychedelics, sex, religion, and music.
