New York: Waverly Press, 2018. NEW. Collector Edition, #136/750. Includes an 8x10" photo of Hendrix signed by Baron Wolman, a sheet of four postcards by Wolman, and an authorized 5x7" reproduction of the Jimi Hendrix Experience handbill from its four-night run of performances at San Francisco's Fillmore and Winterland, dated February 1-4, 1968.
In 1967, Rolling Stone magazine founder Jann Wenner asked Baron Wolman to be his first chief photographer and over the next several years Baron gained unprecedented access to some of the greatest artists of the day including The Grateful Dead, The Who, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, George Harrison, The Rolling Stones, Joni Mitchell, Eric Clapton, Frank Zappa, and of course, the legendary Jimi Hendrix. On four separate occasions in 1968 and 1970 in San Francisco and New York City, Baron captured Hendrix with "Experience" bass player Noel Redding and drummer Mitch Mitchell both on stage, and alone in private settings. For the first time in history, Wolman has opened his Hendrix archive, and has selected the best shots for full page reproduction, 422 in total, most published for the first time. The book includes also images of the vintage contact sheets and 1968 private photo log book.
