Slash -- Complete Set [Magazine]
- Description
Los Angeles, California: 1977-1980. A complete run of the Los Angeles punk fanzine, Slash, including uncommon One-Year Anniversary Issue. A total of 29 issues were published. VERY GOOD. Expected toning and edgewear, otherwise this set has aged extremely well over the past 40+ years.
Slash was founded in Los Angeles in 1977 by Steve Samiof and regularly covered such L.A. bands as The Screamers, Nervous Gender and The Skulls, as well as non-local acts. Dave Vanian of The Damned was featured on the first cover. Slash defined the punk subculture in Los Angeles and beyond with the comic strip Jimbo by Gary Panter and photographs by Melanie Nissen, the co-founding publisher and longtime photo editor. Writing by Jeffrey Lee Pierce, Chris D., Pleasant Gehman and Claude “Kickboy Face” Bessy explored reggae, blues and rockabilly in addition to punk and new wave.” - Hat & Beard.
