New Musical Express (NME) is a British music, film and culture website and brand. Founded as a newspaper in 1952, the NME would become a magazine that ended up as a free publication, before becoming an online brand which includes its website and radio stations. Bill Grundy's controversial interview with Sex Pistols destroyed his career and elevated the band to notoriety when Grundy goaded the Pistols to swearing on TV; the Sex Pistols shocked the nation by saying “fucker”, “bastard” and ” tough shit”! It was gentler times (sigh), shocking the nation.
