Almost everyone has a “third place.” You know, that place that’s neither home (#1) nor work (#2), where you can go to either relax, do some reading, catch up on emails, have a meeting, watch a local musical act, see some friends… you get the gist. The third place is part of a routine — it’s familiar, consistent. For many, this third place is their local coffee shop of choice.
A Musical Third Place

When we conceptualized Bynx, we envisioned a space where artistry would be at the forefront. We wanted music in particular to play an integral role in creating an inclusive downtown Orlando community. We wanted to become someone’s third place.
Having a live stage, recording studio and record store, Bynx wouldn’t be a traditional coffee bar. Instead, we would be an intimate entertainment venue, music hub and vibey café with a lot to offer local Orlandoans. Now, in our fifth year, we are hitting our stride and developing a community hub of expression. Whether people are there to take in one of our weekly activities or simply enjoy a coffee or beer while the sun shines through the windows of our downtown space, Bynx has become a third place for many.

A Cornerstone
Beyond the lifeblood that regular entertainment provides, building a community also involves employing engaging and customer-oriented staff, providing quality service and developing valued relationships. Community building is a journey, not a destination, and we look forward to deepening these relationships with our customers, vendors, entertainers and wider community in the years to come. Who knows, maybe Bynx will become your third place too!
